The Fifth Edition of Wind Fest, April 24 – May 24, 2026
The fifth edition of WindFest arrives as a natural continuation of a beautiful and healthy story that keeps growing year after year, alongside the community that brought it to life. What began as a local initiative by the Sailing Club Delfin is now steadily taking shape as a true festival of Boka Bay, open, connected, and deeply rooted in the sea as its strongest point of reference.
In Tivat, as well as in Kotor and Herceg Novi, across weekends from April 24 to May 24, the festival brings an energy that reflects what Boka truly is, a space of healthy living, strong community, and a deeply embedded spirit of sport and maritime life. The sea has always been a window to the world here, a gateway to new horizons, and sailing its finest school of patience, knowledge, and freedom.
It comes as no surprise, then, that sailing holds the central place in the program. Three regattas – one for the youngest sailors in the Optimist and ILCA classes, the Tivat Cruisers Regatta, and the Veterans Regatta – bring generations together and remind us that love for the sea is passed on through experience, example, and time spent together on the water. From such continuity come not only notable sporting results, but more importantly, a healthy relationship with both sport and life.
A special value of the festival lies in the strong presence of children and youth. A large number of local children are involved in different segments of the program, while the youngest from Bambi kindergarten even take part in its production. Their program forms part of the Sea Skills & Crafts Fair “Morska posla,” organized by Sailing Club Delfin in cooperation with the Business Info Centre and the Tivat Tourist Organization, a space for play, learning, and those first encounters with the sea. It is here that the festival’s true belonging to the community is most clearly felt—and how much the community stands behind it.
Education is another important pillar of this story. Through collaboration with the University of Montenegro – Faculty of Maritime Studies in Kotor, and the Institute of Marine Biology, the festival opens its doors to knowledge and modern approaches to understanding and managing the sea and coast. These programs are not confined to academic walls, on the contrary, they are open to anyone who wishes to better understand the space they live in and take part in preserving it.
Equally important is the relationship towards heritage—both the visible and the kind carried through everyday life. Through conversations about Vrmac and cooperation with cultural institutions and the NGO sector, the festival reminds us that Boka is a unique cultural landscape, one that calls for care, attention, and shared responsibility.
The program also brings new and exciting content, like the Urban Downhill race in Herceg Novi, the only one of its kind in this part of Europe, connecting space, sport, and audience in a completely different way. At the same time, music and art remain an essential part of the festival experience – concerts by Bajaga i Instruktori, Wider Horizons and Orthodox Celts, exhibitions by Adriatic Artists and academic painter Ivana Bjelica, as well as an evening of klapa singing in front of the parish church of Saint Anthony—all adding to the atmosphere and promising good times throughout the festival.
Behind it all stands a wide network of WindFest partners and friends, from local institutions to international organizations. At the helm of this story is Sailing Club Delfin, marking 75 years of continuous work this year, along with generations of children who took their first steps toward the sea through the club. The main partners remain the Municipality of Tivat and the Tivat Tourist Organization, supported by more than 90 entities from the public, private, and civil sectors. This year, the Municipality of Kotor and the Municipality of Herceg Novi join as partners, along with new names such as Red Bull.
All programs are free of charge, and the scientific and educational content is open to the public—just like the sea itself is open to all who wish to discover it.
WindFest is not just a series of events—it is a feeling of togetherness, belonging, and pride. In the rhythm of sailing and the play of the wind, it reminds us that Boka is a place where people grow up by the sea—and where every new edition of the festival becomes a chance for a true, authentic encounter with the sea, and with the people of the sea. Those who actively shape the world they grow and learn in.
